Police seize untaxed vehicles seized in Nottinghamshire and tow them away

Nottinghamshire Police has issued a warning to irresponsible drivers after seizing an untaxed vehicle in Beeston. Officers in Beeston seized a pair of vehicles, stating that drivers of the cars had been driving with no insurance and no tax for months.

The vehicles were taken away following automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) activations during patrols on Friday, July 8. Both drivers have since been reported for driving without insurance and tax.

A pair of photos posted to Twitter by Beeston Police show two vehicles being taken away by authorities due to outstanding tax payments. Both vehicles had tax bills that had not been paid since November, 2021.

The DVLA has set out its rules for people who drive an untaxed vehicle on a public road. The enforcement action is as follows: "An out of court settlement (OCS) letter issued. OCS set at £30 plus twice the outstanding vehicle tax.

"If the OCS is not paid, as a criminal offence the case may be pursued through the magistrates’ court. The penalty is either £2,500 or five times the amount of tax chargeable, whichever is greater.

"Vehicle may be clamped and additional fees may apply."
