MALAPPURAM
The police seized 1.12 kg of smuggled in gold from a man who landed at Karipur from Dubai on Friday night. Three people were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Acting on a tipoff, the police picked up Sadiq on his way out of the airport. He reached Karipur on Air India flight from Dubai at 11.30 p.m. Shamseer and Ashiq, who came to pick him up, were also arrested.
District Police Chief Sujit Das S. said that Sadiq had hidden the gold in his rectum. He was taken to a hospital at Kondotty and subjected to an X-ray screening. Four gold capsules were found in the X-ray.
