Police seek witnesses to white Skoda failing to stop

ACT Policing is urging witnesses and those with dash cam footage or information relating to a traffic stop incident on the evening of Friday, November 8, to come forward.

At around 10.20pm on Friday, police attempted to stop a white Skoda Octavia, with ACT registration YPD69W, on Lonsdale Street in Braddon.

Once the police activated their emergency lights, the Skoda fled down a footpath on Lonsdale Street before turning onto Girrawheen Street.

Following this, police then observed the vehicle driving at speed on Torrens Street. Police once again tried to stop the Skoda, but the driver entered the wrong side of the road in an attempt to escape.

The Skoda continued along Cooyong Street, swerving between traffic, before stopping at a red light behind two civilian vehicles.

As police approached the Skoda, the car took off, scraping the side of one of the civilian vehicles in the process.

The Skoda was later located at Goodwin Gardens in Ainslie, but the occupants had fled before police arrival.

Anyone who can provide footage or information regarding the incident or the car's occupants is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7895786. Information can be provided anonymously.
