A specialist water rescue unit has joined police and Coastguard crews in their efforts to find a young man reported missing in Arbroath on Boxing Day.
Emergency services are scouring the Hercules Den area of the town in the hunt for Leon Gibson, who was last seen at around 6.45am today.
Residents have been asked to check their sheds and outbuildings in case the 21-year-old has sought shelter after being reported as missing to Police Scotland.
Pictures from the scene show several first response vehicles from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard alongside marked police motors. An ambulance was also in attendance.
Officers have also been seen scouring woodland bear the Brothock Burn in the search for Leon, who is described as being around 6ft 3in tall, of a slim build with blonde hair. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie, jogging bottoms and trainers.
A statement from Police Scotland said: “Officers in Tayside are appealing for information to help trace Leon Gibson, 21, who has been reported missing from Arbroath.
“Leon was last seen around 6.45am on Monday, 26 December, 2022 in the Hercules Den area. He is described as 6ft 3in tall, of slim build with blonde hair. When Leon was last seen he was wearing a dark hoodie, joggers and trainers.
“Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen Leon since 6.45am on Monday or anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact them. Locals are also asked to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0790 of 26 December, 2022.”
