Police raced to a street in Anniesland on Tuesday afternoon following reports of a man with a gun.
The alarm was raised around 4.25pm when the man was seen with what appeared to be a firearm near to Shafton Road.
When officers arrived, the person was nowhere to be seen despite searches of the local area. They are continuing to investigate the report.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers attended and searches were carried out in the local area, however, there was no trace of him.
“There have been no reports of any firearm discharged or anyone injured.
"Police enquiries are continuing into this report."
