Authorities at a nudist resort in California took drastic measures on Thursday as they tore down walls of a home in search of a man suspected of being involved in the disappearance of a couple next door. Daniel and Stephanie Menard were last seen on Saturday and reported missing on Sunday, with their car found near their residence.
Redlands Police Department received a tip implicating the neighbor in the case while following up on the missing person's report. A search warrant was obtained to locate the suspect, leading to a lockdown of the Olive Dell Ranch RV Park, located approximately 65 miles west of Los Angeles.
Police utilized tactical equipment to breach the neighbor's home and conduct a thorough search using remote video equipment. SWAT teams reportedly used armored vehicles to tear down walls as a safety precaution for the officers involved.
Authorities refrained from disclosing the neighbor's identity but emphasized that there were sufficient grounds to investigate the possibility of foul play, given the Menards' prolonged absence and the information received.
According to reports, Daniel Menard is 79 years old, and his wife Stephanie is 73. Daniel, who is diabetic and suffers from dementia, along with their white Shih Tzu named Cuddles, remains missing.
The Olive Dell Ranch, described as 'Southern California's favorite nudist resort for families and couples,' spans 100 acres and offers five miles of hiking trails amidst picturesque mountain views.
