Police Scotland appeal to trace missing teenager amid online misinformation

UPDATE: Police have confirmed they have traced Daniel McPhee

POLICE Scotland have launched an appeal to help trace a teenager missing from Stranraer.

Daniel McPhee, 15, is believed to have travelled to the Moray area to visit relatives on Wednesday, September 25 -  however failed to return home as planned and was reported missing on Monday, September 30.

He is described as 5 ft 6 with sandy brown hair and it is not known what he is wearing.

Inspector Neil Morrison highlighted that the teen has not been traced despite some online accounts claiming that he had been found.

Morrison said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish Daniel’s whereabouts, and while we are aware of misinformation online suggesting he has been traced, he has not and he is still missing.

“He has links to the Moray and Aberdeenshire areas as well as Stranraer and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen him, or who knows where he may be, to please get in touch.

“Anyone with information about Daniel’s whereabouts is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1157 of Monday, 30 September, 2024.”
