Police say sudden death of woman 'not suspicious'

The sudden death of a woman on the outskirts of Bristol is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed. An investigation was launched after a woman died at an address in Long Ashton on Friday (March 10).

Avon and Somerset Police was called to the property by the ambulance service shortly before 1pm. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was arrested in connection with the death but has since been released. Following a forensic post-mortem, police have confirmed that the death is not suspicious.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: “An investigation was launched following a sudden death in North Somerset.

"At around 12.50pm today (Friday 10 March), we were contacted by the ambulance service about an incident they were responding to at an address in Long Ashton. Sadly, one woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Following a forensic post-mortem, we now believe the circumstances of the death to be non-suspicious. One man who had been arrested in connection with the incident has now been released without charge.

“We will continue to carry out enquiries on behalf of the coroner.”
