Emergency services rushed to Moreton Beach in Wirral following reports remains had been found on the shoreline.
Emergency services were contacted this morning just after 8.40am after reports remains had been discovered on Moreton beach. Officers from Merseyside Police could be seen attending the beach and carrying out examinations on the remains - which are believed to be that of a seal or porpoise.
At least three police vehicles could be seen in a car park at the end of Pasture Road, Moreton. Officers stood on the promenade running along the beach preventing pedestrians from walking down while examinations took place.

An eyewitness said the remains had a really strong, bad smell. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed to the ECHO examinations established the remains were of a seal or a porpoise.
A police spokesperson said: "We can confirm officers attended Moreton Shore in Wirral today, Wednesday 20 April. Emergency services were contacted just before 8.40am following reports that remains had been discovered on the shoreline.
"Officers attended and it was established the remains were of a seal or a porpoise."
