Local police have commented on the prank that took place during BBC’s coverage of Liverpool’s clash against Wolves.
The Reds beat Wolves in their FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday night. Jurgen Klopp’s side won 1-0 thanks to a Harvey Elliott goal, and set up a fourth round tie away at Brighton.
However, there was drama before kick-off when a prank was pulled during the BBC’s live coverage. With around 10 minutes until kick-off, as pundits Gary Lineker, Paul Ince and Danny Murphy were talking, they were interrupted by what sounded like pornographic groans.

The BBC later issued an apology through a statement following the incident. "We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening," the statement read. "We are investigating how this happened.”
Now West Midlands Police have responded to the prank. They say that “no criminal offences” took place at Molineux.
“We’ve liaised with the club and are satisfied that no criminal offences have taken place,” West Midlands Police told the PA news agency, via Birmingham Live.
Lineker later tweeted to reveal the phone that was used to do the prank. Tweeting after the incident as the game kicked off, the Match of the Day presenter revealed the cause of the noises.
“Well, we found this taped to the back of the set. As sabotage goes it was quite amusing,” Lineker tweeted, along with a picture of the offending phone.
