Paedophile caught with vile child abuse videos tried to blame his own son
A paedophile attempted to pin the blame on his own son when he was caught with videos of boys having sex.
William Rumsby accessed the dark web in order to collect a stash of indecent images of children for the second time and installed a multitude of software on his tablet computer in a bid to cover his tracks. He then told a "series of lies" when police came knocking at his door.
Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday, Wednesday, that the pensioner was handed four-month imprisonment suspended for two years and a seven-year sexual harm prevention order in December 2016 after being convicted of possessing and making indecent images of children. This SHPO subjected the 71-year-old to a number of restrictions - including requiring him to notify the authorities of any owned devices capable of accessing the internet, not deleting the history of websites viewed and granting access to the equipment when requested by an officer.
When Merseyside Police visited his home on Saunders Avenue in Prescot on November 2 last year, Rumsby initially claimed he "wasn't aware" of the order. His mobile phone was checked, but no suspicious items were discovered.
The detectives then asked to look at a Samsung tablet which was in a holder in front of the chair he was sitting in. But Rumsby said it "didn't belong to him and couldn't be checked".
He added that "it was his son's and he didn't have the code to unlock it", and refused to provide son's contact details. However, records showed that the pervert had registered the computer with the force in November 2020 under the terms of his SHPO.
Man says his car has 'mind of its own' after being 'plagued by problems'
A man with mobility issues said his brand new car has been plagued with problems including a "useless" computer system which has led to rows with members of the public.
Barry Williams, 62, from Norris Green, got a new SEAT Ateca almost three months ago to help him get around due to his mobility issues, caused by a missing piece of his spine. He claims he has had to deal with a variety of issues related to the vehicle, which he says seems to have a "mind of its own."
Barry told the ECHO: "I'll be driving along and hit a bump and everything [in the car] will turn off - it'll just emergency stop like that for no reason whatsoever. The computer system is knackered and useless. It controls the radio and everything in the car.
"The radio goes on or off, whenever it wants. It often comes on blaring so I can't hear myself and you can't turn the volume down, you've physically got to stop the car, turn it off, open the door, close the door, open it again and turn it back on - that's the only way to stop it from doing it.
"I nearly gave an old lady a heart attack the other day. I'd come back to my car after going to the shops and there was an old lady walking past me. She wasn't too good on her feet but luckily there was a wall for her to fall on.
"I turned the car on and the radio blasted so loud that it deafened me and she suddenly screamed, fell over and hit the wall. She shouted at me "what the f****** hell are you doing you stupid b******" and I said sorry love but it's not me."
