A driver was caught dangerously maneuvering a reportedly stolen car on a major Canberra road before the vehicle was found in flames, police said.
About 9.30am on Thursday, the person behind the wheel of a white KIA SUV failed to stop for police on Morsehead Drive.
ACT Policing said the driver violated road rules and put others at risk.
"They were certainly breaking the speed limit," a police spokesperson said.
In footage captured by police's dash cam, the vehicle is seen swerving off the road on to the median strip.
Police also alleged the vehicle had been driving over roundabouts, nearly crashing into other motorists.
The same vehicle was reported in a car fire on Parkes Way in Acton at 10.30am.
"ACT Fire & Rescue extinguished the blaze, and no one was injured during the incident," the police spokesperson said.
"The destroyed vehicle was a white Kia SUV which had previously been reported stolen."
He said the driver had not been identified and allegedly escaped after abandoning the SUV on Parkes Way.
"Police are seeking information about the driver of the vehicle, including any information about where the driver ran to after they left the Kia SUV on Parkes Way," the spokesperson said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle being left or who may have dash-cam footage of it, was urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or through the Crime Stoppers ACT website. They were requested to quote 7854664. Police said information could be provided anonymously.
