Police stopped a driver delivering a Chinese takeaway - and found the driver's provisional licence expired almost 40 years ago.
The driver was pulled over in Ilkeston by police acting on intelligence.
Police said the motorist had been driving on a provisional licence which expired in 1983, 39 years ago.
A provisional licence allows people to start learning to drive a car on public roads - but only when accompanied at all times by a full licence holder over the age of 21 who has held a full licence for three years.
Officers also said that there were a series of faults with the car, with the cord on two tyres exposed and defective lights.
On Twitter, the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said: "Ilkeston. Acting on community intelligence, this vehicle delivering food for a Chinese takeaway stopped.
"Two tyres with cord exposed, defective lights and a driver whose provisional licence expired in 1983.
"We've just ordered a 'number 165' with sweet and sour sauce. #Seized."
