Police probe unexplained death of woman, 41, in Ayr flats

Cops are probing the unexplained death of a woman inside a flat in Ayr.

Police raced to flats in Nursery Hall earlier this morning.

A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The flats in the Whitletts area of the town were sealed over earlier today.

An eyewitness described how police were stood guarding the flats.

Pictures from the scene show a large area outside the flats cordoned off with police tape.

It is not yet known the cause of death, but a post mortem is due to take place.

Police have confirmed they are treating the death as unexplained, with an investigation ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Monday, 27 March, police were called to a flat in Nursery Hall, Ayr.

“A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.

“Police enquiries are continuing.”
