Police probe launched into attack on woman at Kenton pub

A woman reportedly has her hair pulled in a city pub after another customer was thrown out the bar.

Police were called to the Duke of Wellington, in Kenton, Newcastle, at just before midnight on Friday.

It was reported that a 34-year-old woman had been assaulted inside the pub after another woman was asked to leave the premises.

Locals said there was a large police presence at Duke of Wellington, which is on Kenton Lane.

One said: "Loads of police came to the pub late on Friday."

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman has confirmed that attack is being investigated.

She said: "Shortly before midnight on Friday police received a report a woman had been assaulted inside a pub on Kenton Lane.

"Officers attended the premises where it was reported a woman had been asked to leave the premises and then assaulted a 34-year-old woman by pulling her hair, before being ejected."
