Police officer who led hunt that inspired BBC Sherwood details how killer's lair was found

The man who led the hunt for one of the killers which inspired the hit BBC One drama Sherwood has lifted the lid on how he was found. Father-of-three Keith Frogson was shot with a crossbow outside his home in Annesley Woodhouse by Robert Boyer back in 2004.

Shortly afterwards, Terry Rodgers, the father of newlywed Chanel Taylor, shot her just weeks after her wedding - both killers decided to flee into the woodland near Annesley in an attempt to evade police. The events that unfolded afterwards inspired James Graham's Sherwood, a six-part drama.

DCI Russ Foster, then 33, led the hunt for Boyer, spending two weeks, day and night, searching by foot through the forest, knowing that every day their prey was on the loose, there was a good chance he would kill again, The Mirror reports.
