A serving Met police officer has pleaded guilty to dozens of sex attacks on 12 women, including more than 20 rapes. David Carrick is facing years behind bars after he admitted 49 offences between 2003 and 2020 at Southwark Crown Court on Monday morning.
The 48-year-old, who was nicknamed "B****rd Dave" by his colleagues, stayed on the force despite being accused of rape, assault, harassment, burglary and domestic abuse.
It is believed Carrick may have attacked more even more women and detectives investigating have appealed for them to come forward, the Mirror reports.
The twisted cop will be sentenced next month after being charged with 24 counts of rape, nine of sexual assault; five of assault by penetration; three of coercive and controlling behaviour; three of false imprisonment; two of attempted rape; one of attempted sexual assault by penetration and one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one indecent assault.
The former soldier used his position as a policeman to terrorise his victims in degrading attacks as he told them they would not be believed.
He urinated on some, locked one in an under stairs cupboard, forced another to drink her own urine and dragged one by her hair before whipping her with a belt.
Colleagues described him as "mean and cruel" but the serial offender would be charming and charismatic before isolating his victims from their loved ones and repeatedly humiliating them.
After Carrick was arrested for rape in July 2021, anti-corruption officers failed to investigate and they are now themselves under investigation.
He was allowed to return to his job but just three months later a woman told Herts police he had raped her after they met on Tinder and he was finally suspended.
Following publicity of the case, more women came forward to report Carrick - including a number who had previously reported him to police.
Carrick was first reported to the Met police in 2000 when an ex partner accused him of burglary and sending abusive messages. The former soldier was not arrested and the following year he joined the Met after he passed vetting checks.
In 2002, while he was still on probation, he was accused of harassment and assault by another former partner. The case was dropped and it has now been referred to the police watchdog.
The following year Carrick attacked the first of the 12 women he was convicted of violently assaulting after raping and humiliating her.
In 2004 the Met were again called to a "domestic incident" involving Carrick but "no criminal allegations were made".
Five years later he was reported to Herts police over yet another domestic incident. Again he was not arrested but the Met were informed and he remained in post.
Then in 2016, Carrick was not arrested after being investigated for harassment and stalking.
One year later at the Q nightclub in Reading he was involved in a drunken incident with a woman but again, no action was taken against him.
In 2019 Carrick was accused of grabbing a woman by the neck but Herts Police took no further action on the case, instead referring it to the Met who let him continue in post after giving him "words of advice".
In July of 2021, he was arrested on suspicion of a rape committed in 2020. This case was also dropped.
After Herts Police referred the case to the Met, detectives failed to check Carrick's shocking record and he was cleared to return to full duties.
This is now the subject of an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Carrick, from Stevanage, Herts, was finally charged and suspended from duties in October 2021 when he was accused of rape by the woman he met on Tinder.
He had originally denied all the allegations, claiming either the women consented or the events did not occur.
