A police officer could be sacked from his role after being accused of trying to shoplift from Sainsbury's.
PC Sam Rigby from Lancashire Police is set to face a misconduct hearing next week after an allegation that he stole from the Sainsbury's store at Manchester Picadilly Station, with a potential punishment of up to and including immediate dismissal. He will go before a panel chaired by Constable Chris Rowley at Ormskirk Police Station.
PC Rigby, who has worked as the Skelmersdale Rural Community Beat Manager, is said to have placed goods in the pocket of his coat and left without paying. Lancashire Constabulary has argued that this amounts to a breach of policing standards in honesty, integrity and discreditable conduct, LancsLive reports.
