Police officer accused of buying performance-enhancing drugs appears in court

A Mackay police officer has appeared in court charged with buying restricted performance-enhancing drugs.

Daen-Tahlur Trenton Kennedy was initially charged with three offences of buying schedule four or schedule eight medicines, which are classified as prescription-only or controlled drugs.

During a brief mention in the Mackay Magistrates Court police prosecutors offered no evidence and the charges were withdrawn.

But a new charge was presented to the court.

It is alleged that between August 16 and 19 this year, Mr Kennedy bought schedule four hazardous poisons and did not buy them in an authorised way.

They included Ligandrol and Testolone, which mimic the activity of testosterone in the body.

No pleas were entered and Mr Kennedy did not make any comment as he left court.

He has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service.

The matter will return to court later this month.
