A young police officer has died just months after joining the force following a battle with cancer. PCSO Luke Evans, 27, only started his dream policing career last October and was due to get married before tragedy struck.
Police chiefs have paid tribute to Luke who worked for the South Wales force in both Cardiff and the seaside town of Llantwit Major. South Wales Police said: "Luke will be greatly missed by his team and everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.
"He passed away aged 27 following a short battle with cancer. Our sincere condolences are with Luke’s fiancée, his parents, the rest of his family and all his friends and colleagues. Rest in peace Luke."
South Wales Police chief constable Jeremy Vaughan said: "Luke’s death is incredibly sad. My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues who we will support in any way that we can at this extremely difficult time."
