Police lock down Scots road after late-night two-car smash

A Scots road has been locked after a two vehicle smash. Cops raced to Belville Street in Greenock, Inverclyde, at around 9pm this evening.

Officers closed the road on arrival and are still at the scene. The force have launched a probe into the smash but it is not known if there are any casualties at this stage.

Images shared online show a silver car lying stationary in the middle of the road and another smaller vehicle is nearby. The second motor appears to have been pushed off the road onto the pavement.

Another pic shows cops at the scene, with two cars at either end of the road, blocking off access. Police Scotland confirmed to the Record that they remained at the scene tonight.

A spokesperson said: "Police were called to two-vehicle road traffic accident at Belville Street, Greenock, at around 9pm this evening.

"Officers are still at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."
