Police in Bo’ness are appealing for information following a recent fire in a derelict building that investigators are treating as deliberate.
Emergency services rushed to South Street in the town on Monday, July 4, at around 1.30pm, after the fire broke out inside a disused premises. Four fire engines and a height appliance were used to tackle the flames.
Dramatic images captured by an eyewitness showed firefighters spraying the building with water and surveying the damage from atop a mechanised ladder. The blaze caused the structure's roof to cave in.
On Tuesday, officers from Police Scotland's Forth Valley Division confirmed that the fire was being treated as deliberate and have asked for anyone with information relating to the incident to get in touch.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in Bo’ness are appealing for information following a wilful fire at a derelict premises on South Street. The incident was reported around 1.30pm on Monday, 4 July, 2022 and there were no reports of any injuries.
"The fire is currently being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone with any information which may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1669 of Monday, 4 July, 2022.
"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously by calling 0800 555 111."
