Police are investigating after video footage on social media showed Phil Foden's mum being punched by a man.
Manchester City midfielder Phil and his family were watching Kell Brook beat Amir Khan at the AO Arena in Manchester when the incident took place.
In an online video, Phil appears to be hounded by a group of men before a lady who appears to be Foden's 41-year-old mum, Claire, appears to confront them after emerging from a room.
After the action escalates, the woman is punched by one of the men on the video, the Mirror reports.
Police told Reuters in a statement that they are looking into it despite a report not being made at this time,
They said in a statement: "GMP are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a disturbance at the AO arena last night (19 February 2022).
"We are conducting some further enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
Manchester City also said in a statement early on Sunday. "The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused.
"We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil's family members. We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need."
Phil played for Manchester City as they lost to Tottenham 3-2 earlier that day before attending the clash at AO Arena.
Sheffield boxer Brook won with a technical knockout in the sixth round.
