Police launch probe after baby dies at house in Manchester

Detectives have launched an investigation after a baby died at a house in Manchester.

Police officers officers and paramedics were scrambled to Bonscale Crescent, Middleton, at just after 2pm on Sunday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were alerted to “reports of a baby not breathing at an address”.

An air ambulance was dispatched and landed on nearby Windermere Road.

The one-year-old child was pronounced dead on the scene. No more details on the child or the circumstances of the death have been released.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “At around 2:05pm on Sunday, 30 June 2024, officers were called to reports of a baby not breathing at an address on Bonscale Crescent in Middleton.

“Sadly, a one-year-old child was pronounced deceased at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services. An investigation is ongoing.”
