Detectives have launched a manhunt after a robber sexually assaulted a pensioner and ripped £20,000 of jewellery from her during an attack in north London.
The victim, in her 70s, was followed off a bus and cornered in a doorway where the attacker sexually assaulted her before grabbing her bank cards and jewellery and ran off.
Police were alerted and scrambled to the scene on Regents Park Road, Finchley, at 4.35am on 13 September.
The woman suffered a broken leg and several fractured ribs. She remains in hospital two weeks after the incident.
Detectives have issued an image of a man they want to trace in connection with the attack.
PC Harry Morrice, from the North West area’s local investigations team, said: “This was an extremely distressing incident which has left an elderly woman in hospital, having suffered serious injuries.
“We are committed to finding the perpetrator and continue to carry out a number of enquiries in order to hold those responsible to account.
“We are now releasing an image of a man we would like to identify and are asking for assistance from the public. We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the robbery, or a man running off.
“Any information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
Anyone who knows this man or has information is asked to call police on 101 or message @MetCC on X quoting CAD 838/13Sep.
