A woman was taken to hospital after reports of a rape in Liverpool city centre.
The victim reported the serious sexual assault, at a premises on Victoria Street, at around 5.30am on Sunday, January 29. Police arrived at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital. She is being supported by specialist officers.
Detectives have confirmed an investigation has begun and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out. Merseyside Police released an image of a man they believed could have information to help their investigation earlier today. This man has now been identified and is assisting police.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: "We understand the concern that such serious offences can cause and I want to assure people we are assessing all possible evidence to establish what happened. If you hold any relevant information, CCTV or doorbell footage from the early hours of Sunday 29 January please contact us so we can continue to piece together the circumstances of this incident.
