Police issue appeal for help to find 'wanted man'

Police are urging the public to contact them immediately if they see a 'wanted' man. Steven James Smith is known in Wigan - in particular Leigh - Greater Manchester Police said.

Smith was last released from prison in March 2021. GMP said he was jailed in the previous August for breaching the conditions of his licence.

Now he is wanted by police. GMP has today (Saturday) issued an appeal to members of the public for help finding the 34-year-old, from Wigan.

Anyone who sees Smith - or has information on his whereabouts - is urged to come forward as soon as possible. In a post on Facebook, a a spokesperson for GMP Wigan West said: "Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a wanted man from Wigan.

"Steven James Smith, 34, was released from prison in March 2021 after being jailed in August 2020 for breaching the conditions of his licence. Smith is known to have links to the Wigan and Leigh areas of Greater Manchester."
