Wirral Police have issued a warning to people living in the borough after they arrested a man on suspicion of burglary over the weekend.
They have advised homeowners to remain 'vigilant' and to take extra care in keeping their premises secure as they continue to see reports of homes targeted in the borough. Birkenhead and Oxton have been targeted most recently, and the force advise people living in the two areas to take particular care against potential burglaries.
On Facebook the Wirral Police said: "Over the weekend we have arrested a male for burglary in Birkenhead but we continue to see reports suggesting there are others operating in the area. Birkenhead and Oxton have been targeted so remain vigilant and keep premises secure."

Merseyside Police have plenty of information on how to keep your home as safe as possible from crime on their website. The advice ranges from guidance on making sure that all people living in a shared area keep any communal doors locked, to a checklist of how to secure your home before you leave.
The advice also offers guidance on how burglars operate, such as choosing to strike during hours when people tend to be away from home, and scoping out homes for easy access through unlocked doors or open windows. The advice issued by Merseyside Police can be found here.
