Police investigating after toddler fell from first-floor bedroom window in Birmingham

A toddler was taken to hospital after falling from an upstairs window. West Midlands Police are investigating after the 18-month-old boy fell from the first floor of a property in Handsworth.

Officers were called to Wattville Road at about 1pm today, Friday, April 29. West Midlands Police confirmed a toddler had fallen from a height, Birmingham Live reports.

The child was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by the ambulance service. Police said he escaped with bruising and was being checked for other injuries.

Police sealed off part of road as inquiries continued. A force spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: "An 18-month-old boy has been taken to hospital after falling from a first floor window at a property in Wattville Road, Birmingham around 1pm today, April 29.

"The child has been left bruised, and is now being checked for any further injuries. We have cordoned off the property while we investigate the circumstances of the fall."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called to reports of a patient who had fallen from height on Wattville Road at 1.04pm. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered a male toddler who was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for further assessment."
