Police are investigating reports of an assault on a 15-year-old boy.
Yesterday, mum Joanne Birch told the ECHO her son, who is autistic and has epilepsy, was attacked by two adult men as he walked home that morning. She said the men, who she believed to be in their 20s or 30s, punched her son and threw a can of lager at him on the corner of Modred Street and Vining Street in Toxteth.
Merseyside Police are now conducting witness and CCTV inquiries into the incident. Officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Speaking about the incident, Joanne told the ECHO : " My son went to the shop on North Hill Street in Toxteth at 9am on Monday. He ended up buying more than he usually does because it was his birthday yesterday. So he came back and told me he was £1 short, so I gave him £1.
"I offered to go back with him, but he said he wanted to go back on his own. From my house, I heard shouting, I heard a scream.
"I came out of the house and saw him stumbling down my road in a state. I asked what happened.
"He said that two grown men beat him up. As he came home from the shop, he was on the corner of Modred Street and Vining Street and he said he looked at two grown men. They had cans of lager in their hands. He stares sometimes, because of his autism.
"They said to my son: 'who are you looking at?' They then swore at him, so he got a bit scared.
"As he went to walk away, they grabbed hold of him and punched him three times in the face and the side of the head and threw a can of lager at him."
A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault in Toxteth yesterday morning, Monday 31 October.
"It is reported that at around 9am a 15-year-old boy was assaulted by two men in their 20s outside a convenience store on Vining Street.
"The victim is described as having suffered minor injuries and was left very distressed by the incident.
"An investigation is underway including witness and CCTV enquiries."
