Police are investigating after CCTV footage emerged of a brawl taking place in a South Shields pub.
Footage has been shared on social media of an altercation taking place in what is understood to be the The Derby pub on Prince Edward Road, and appears to show a man being knocked out after being hit with a pool cue. The altercation happened shortly before 11.30am on December 30.
The footage, which has been widely shared on social media platforms, shows an argument taking place before a man picks up a pool ball from a table and throws it. Another man then hits him with a pool cue, knocking him to the floor as another customer appears to throw a pint glass at the fallen man.

Police went to the pub on the evening after reports of an incident taking place, but those involved were no longer there. A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “On the evening of December 30 2022, we were alerted to an altercation taking place within a pub on Prince Edward Road, South Shields. Officers attended the premises but those involved had already left and no reports outlining any injuries were made to police."
The force added: “CCTV of the incident is being reviewed by officers and enquiries are on-going.”
No arrests have been made.
