On Sunday night, police in Tel Aviv resorted to using stun grenades to disperse protesters, as captured in video footage and confirmed by a member of Israel's parliament who was present at the demonstration.
The video footage shows police throwing stun grenades at protesters who had blocked Tel Aviv's Ayalon Highway. The demonstrators were demanding the release of hostages in Gaza.
One parliament member expressed concern over the police's actions, stating that stun grenades were thrown at protesters without warning and at close range. This behavior was deemed as endangering public peace and violating the law.
Prior to the use of stun grenades, police had also deployed water cannons with foam to disperse protesters who were sitting on Ayalon Highway.
As a result of the protests, 29 individuals were arrested by the police in Tel Aviv on that Sunday.
