Officers have issued an urgent appeal for information after a 50-year-old woman was stabbed at an Oldham property. Greater Manchester Police says it received a report of a stabbing at a property on Blanche Walk, in the St Mary’s area, shortly before 2.30pm yesterday (June 15).
Emergency services raced out to the scene and the woman was rushed to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening, GMP says.
Now, the force has issued a description of the person who is believed to have carried out the attack and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Following initial enquiries, officers say the offender is believed to be a mixed race male, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of an average build.

It is believed he was wearing a cap, sunglasses, black bubble coat, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers at the time of the incident. Eyewitness reported seeing a large police presence in the area yesterday, with Tactical Aid Unit officers and crime scene investigators at the scene.
Officers do not believe there is a wider risk to the public following the attack and are moving to reassure the community. PC Ebony Millington, of GMP’s Oldham CID, said: “As our investigation is ongoing, we wish the victim a prompt recovery.
"Whilst we are carrying out our own enquiries, I’d also ask anyone with information, including any dashcam or CCTV from the surrounding streets, to contact us or Crimestoppers immediately. We do not believe that this was a random attack nor that there is any threat or risk of harm to the wider community."
Anyone with information should contact GMP by phoning 0161 856 8999, quoting 1868 of June 15, 2022. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
