Police are hunting for the killer of an 86-year-old woman while her husband fights for his life in hospital.
Officers were called to the home of the elderly couple in Shirebrook, Derbyshire, early on Saturday morning following reports that a man and a woman had been found with serious injuries at a house in Langwith Junction.
Freda Walker, 86, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband Ken Walker, a former district councillor and honorary alderman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
