Police hunt man who 'grabbed woman in park before exposing himself on street'

A manhunt is underway after a woman was grabbed in a Salford park moments before the offender was reportedly seen exposing himself. Greater Manchester Police has tonight (March 14) issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to help find the suspect.

Officers received a call at around 4.15pm today reports of a woman being grabbed by an unknown man on Buile Hill Park, near to Lower Seedley Road. GMP says the victim was able to get free but was very distressed by the encounter.

A short time later, officers received a further call, regarding a man exposing himself on Eccles New Road. It is believed these two incidents are linked.

In response, a large number of police officers have been deployed to the area in an effort to locate and apprehend the suspect. He is described as being a white man, aged in his late teens to early twenties, and between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 8ins tall.

He was dressed in a dark-coloured beanie hat, dark coloured top, tracksuit bottoms and dark trainers. It is believed that he spoke with a local accent.

Detective Inspector Gareth Humphreys, of GMP's Salford district, said: “Currently, our investigations are still ongoing and we haven’t yet made any arrests. We need to speak to this man as soon as possible and as such, we are appealing for the public’s help.

"We are asking for homes, businesses and vehicles in the area to check their CCTV and doorbell/dashcam footage around the time of the incidents. It’s important that residents and other members of the public in the area feel safe and reassured and as such, we have increased our patrols, particularly in and around Buile Hill Park.

“If there is anyone who has any information, please contact Salford CID on 0161 856 5261 or dial 101 and quote log number 232 of March 14, 2023. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity - Crimestoppers - on 0800 555 111.”
