Police are seeking a male driver after a dog walker was killed in an apparent hit-and-run collision in Carmarthenshire.

Dyfed-Powys police said the man was in a collision with a car while walking on a small country lane near Caer Salem Baptist chapel between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on Monday. The victim was left with unsurvivable injuries.

Police have established that the vehicle involved was travelling northbound through Llanpumsaint at the time of the collision. Officers are looking for the male driver of a blue car that left the scene, which would have had noticeable damage.

“Sadly, a man has died as a result of his injuries. Family liaison officers are supporting his family,” a police spokesperson said. “We are appealing for the driver, and anyone with information about the incident, to come forward.”

The road where the incident occurred is likely to remain closed for some time while inquiries continue, police said.

Anyone with information on the incident, particularly people in the surrounding area who may have dashcam footage, is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys police.
