Police hunt arsonist who escaped on leave from secure medical facility in south-east London

Police are hunting for a convicted arsonist who escaped while on escorted leave from a secure medical facility in south east London.

Joseph Cachia, 43, was last seen in a coffee shop in Bexleyheath Town Centre on Saturday (March 9).

Scotland Yard urges members of the public not to approach him, and to instead call the police if he is seen.

They said he resides at a secure medical facility “as a result of a conviction for arson”.

Cachia is a described as white, approximately 6ft tall, and of average build with ginger hair and glasses.

He was last seen wearing a green jacket, dark green t-shirt, light green tracksuit and yellow socks with black trainers.

“Members of the public are advised not to approach Cachia but to call 999 immediately if he is seen,” said a Met police spokesperson on Wednesday, as the force issued a photograph of the missing man.
