Police helicopter and sniffer dogs search for missing Ayrshire man Corry Ferguson

Police say they are ‘extremely concerned’ for the safety of a missing Saltcoats man who vanished 10 days ago.

A force helicopter and sniffer dogs have been drafted in to search for Corry Ferguson, who was last seen leaving a Spar shop on Wheatley Road at around 9.35am on Tuesday March 1.

The 26-year-old has failed to make contact with his worried family, who have described his disappearance as “totally out of character”.

Officers are continuing to check CCTV footage from the town but are keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or video footage from the area.

Investigators have also released two new images of Corry in a bid to help find him.

He is described as being white, around 6ft tall, with a slim build and brown hair.

Corry was last seen wearing a black parka jacket, a green hooded top, grey jogging trousers, white trainers and a black baseball cap.

Inspector Barry McNaught said: “We are extremely concerned for Corry’s welfare as it is totally out of character for him to go missing and not to keep in contact with his family. If you have seen him, please get in touch.

“Specialist search advisors supporting local officers in our searches and ongoing enquiries in and around the Saltcoats area.

“We have also been assisted by our Air Support Unit and police dogs. Officers are also continuing to check CCTV footage from the town in case that will help their investigation.

“We are working to establish where Corry headed after he left the shop on Wheatley Road around 9.35am on Tuesday, 1 March.

“I would ask anyone driving in or around that area with dash-cam footage or anyone with personal footage to contact us in case they have captured any details that may help us trace Corry.”

Anyone with any information that may help officers should contact 101 with reference 1113 of 3 March.
