Police guarding Larkhall home following reports of an incident involving a knife

Police have been in attendance at a house in Larkhall since the early hours of Saturday morning following reports of an incident involving a knife.

Officers have been seen outside the property in Machanhill and police tape remains in place around the house and garden.

A neighbour raised concerns after reports locally of "blood all over the place".

They told Lanarkshire Live : "All we know is that an elderly couple live in the house and that they haven't been at the property since Saturday morning.

"The police have been sat outside every day and the house was still taped off this morning (Tuesday) when I left for work."

Another neighbour said: "It’s been very quiet round here.

"I hadn't even heard about an incident until Sunday, then I saw the police forensics team there and the house taped off.

"We thought we might have heard by now what has happened, but so far all I know is there was some sort of commotion late on Friday night on the man's doorstep, that’s all I know."

Police Scotland were contacted for a comment early this morning, but have not yet gotten back to us. We will have more on this as we get it.

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to contact police on 101.

Information can be left anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
