Police footage shows officers forcing Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill to ground during traffic stop

Miami-Dade Police released body cam footage on Monday showing officers forcefully removing Miami Dolphins' receiver Tyreek Hill from his car during a traffic stop.

The incident occurred ahead of the team's home opener on Sunday.

Civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump shared a three-minute and 35-second clip on social media, showing the interaction. The video starts with an officer questioning Hill about not wearing a seatbelt. After brief words, Hill begins rolling up his window, leading the officer to knock and demand it be lowered.

Hill partially complies before officers open his car door, pulling him out and forcing him face down on the pavement to handcuff him. Hill mentioned undergoing knee surgery as officers restrained him.

The Miami-Dade Police Department announced an Internal Affairs investigation and placed one officer on administrative duties.

The Miami Dolphins issued a statement calling the police action "maddening and heartbreaking," and urged for "swift and strong action against the officers who engaged in such despicable behavior."

Despite the incident, Hill played in the game and scored an 80-yard touchdown.

Hill claimed he followed the officers' orders. The police union stated Hill did not cooperate and was putting people in danger with his driving. The union president, Steadman Stahl, said Hill was handcuffed for the officers' safety, adding the union supports the officers' actions based on available information.

Hill's attorney, Julius Collins, said the union's statement did not match the video evidence. After scoring a touchdown, Hill mimicked being handcuffed during his celebration.
