A GMP Manchester North spokesman said: "Your CReliefNBOteam have today been out pro-actively patrolling Beswick and have made an arrest. Unfortunately for the male arrested he wasn’t aware that the self proclaimed quickest officers in GMP were lurking and sighted him with something concealed.
"After a short foot chase the male was quickly and swiftly detained. This male tried to hide a machete whilst running away but eagle eyed officers sighted his efforts and also managed to recover the machete.
"That is currently one male under arrest for possession of a bladed article and another machete taken off the streets."
