He fitted the bill as a dozy driver in every sense. Motorway cops found a man sleeping in his car on the hard shoulder.
They discovered he had chosen the cheap - and highly dangerous - option for parking when collecting a friend from Manchester Airport.
Greater Manchester Police tweeted a picture of the driver having kip behind the wheel. They added the caption: "If you’re picking someone up from @ManchesterAirp, go to the allocated parking areas. Don’t do what this driver did!
"He thought it was acceptable to park up on the hard shoulder, wait for his friend… and go to sleep!! Driver woken up by #ME51 & reported."
But one person responded to the warning by writing: "Manchester Airport is a complete shambles at the minute. Crazy charges, completely wrong diversion signs due to M56 closure forced everyone to a closed junction on the M60. terrible signage in general for terminals and parking. Thats all before you walk in the door."
