Police netted a staggering drugs haul after stopping a car in Manchester. Officers found 20 bags stuffed full of cannabis inside cardboard boxes in the vehicle's boot.
A man has been arrested - and police said the suspect was also driving without a licence.
The black Ford hatchback was pulled over on Princess Parkway in Manchester by an officer who 'sensed something wasn't right', Greater Manchester Police revealed as the force shared photographs of the huge seizure.
The 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and remained in police custody today - Friday - for questioning, GMP added.
The vacuum-packed bags contained 'a large quantity of cannabis', said the force. A potential street value hasn't been revealed.
In a statement, GMP said: "At midday yesterday (28 July), an officer from the Roads Policing Unit stopped a car on Princess Parkway in Manchester after sensing something wasn't right.
"After speaking to the driver and searching the vehicle a large quantity of cannabis was uncovered. The driver, aged 26, was arrested at the scene for possession with intent to supply and remains in police custody for questioning.
"Vehicle checks also revealed that the suspect was driving without insurance or a license, and his vehicle was subsequently seized."
Inspector Jon Shilvock of GMP’s Roads Policing Unit said: “Thanks to the proactive work of our Roads Policing Unit out on patrol, we have managed to confiscate a large quantity of drugs.
“The arrest and seizure demonstrate our ongoing commitment to removing the illegal supply of drugs from Manchester and pursuing offenders who are involved in serious or organised crime.
“Undoubtedly the proceeds from the sale of these drugs would have helped fund other forms of criminality and by relentlessly pursuing offenders we are protecting vulnerable people and making our communities safer.”
No further details have been revealed. The suspect hasn't been named.
