Police have escorted a colossal quarry vehicle along the M1. Officers described the heavy-duty dozer as a "real-life Tonka toy" as it was guided along narrow roads to its new home.
Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit escorted the dozer, which had been loaded onto a flatbed HGV, along the M1 towards Dowlow Quarry in Buxton. The specialist escort took place on Monday, October 3.
The quarry in High Peak has been in operation since 1899 and is set to be active until the 2040s. Limestone and other rocks are extracted from the site.
Officers compared the vehicle to a Tonka toy, a toymaker which produces heavy-duty toy farm and industrial vehicles made to last.
