Forensic officers are continuing to investigate at the scene of a shooting in Moss Side as police put in a dispersal order for the area.
A cordon remains in place on a stretch of Claremont Road, where a 20-year-old man was fatally shot in the early hours of the morning on Monday (August 15). An area near a small park between Cowesby Street and Roseberry Street also remains taped off.
Crime scene investigators were pictured combing the road for evidence this morning, which is still strewn with litter from the aftermath of a street party held following Manchester Caribbean's Carnival. The cordon on Claremont Road stretches up to Princess Road.

At a press conference held yesterday, police revealed they were also investigating a knife brawl which broke out just over two hours after the shooting and happened just metres away. A number of males were stabbed in the incident at around 2.50am.
Detectives 'remain open-minded' about whether the two incidents were linked. Stop-and-search powers were extended in the area and police patrols have been stepped up.
Today, GMP have said they have enforced section 60 powers around Moss Side and Whalley Range, in place between 4am today (Tuesday) and 4am on Wednesday. It allows offices to disperse anyone "we may believe cause harm or distress to others".
Detective Superintendent David Meeney from the City of Manchester District has added: “We continue to investigate two incidents from the early hours of the 15 of August whereby a number of males have suffered injuries and sadly a young man has lost his life.
"These investigations are being progressed by the GMP Major Incident Team. At present we do not believe these incidents are linked but we remain open minded as we continue to follow lines of enquiry.
"Four men remain in custody in relation to the assault on Roseberry Street and we continue to support the family of the young man who has passed away.
"We will have more officers in the area in the coming days and as part of this powers under Section 60 of Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 have been authorised to support the response to protecting the local community. This is not something that is considered lightly and will be kept under review."
A GMP spokesman added: "We understand the use of these powers can cause concern and can seem excessive. We use these powers when we have information people may have weapons in the area, or there is information that there could be violence.
"Our priority is to keep you safe. We’re using these powers to prevent violence involving weapons. You will see more officers patrolling these areas over the course of this week."
Emergency services were first scrambled to the scene of the shooting at around 12.15am on Monday. Police officers administered CPR on the seriously injured victim but he tragically died in hospital.
A murder probe was launched by detectives and investigations have been ongoing at the scene since. Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
In a previous statement, Detective Superintendent Meeney added: "Firstly, my thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man, aged 20, who senselessly lost his life through this violent act. Our officers were completely focused on administering CPR and trying to save the victims life but despite best efforts, he was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
"We have been working throughout the night to fully understand the events that occurred early this morning, and specialist officers are supporting his family and loved ones. Officers were immediately present at Claremont Road at around 00.15am this morning to reports of a firearm being discharged in the area.
"Upon arrival, the scene indicated that the victim had sustained multiple wounds and the priority at that time was to get him to safety. The nature of his injuries is yet to be confirmed.
"Formal identification has taken place and we are supporting the family through this process as they inform loved ones. The family have requested privacy until this time.
"We don’t believe at this time that this incident was related to a firearms incident in the area on the 29th of July 2022, but we are keeping an open mind and investigating all lines of enquiry. Police are also investigating a further incident, which took place nearby early this morning and we remain open minded as to whether this is connected.
"We know at around 02:52am a report of males fighting has been received and a number of males have received stab injuries, fortunately, none of these have proved life threatening and they are all recovering. A number of arrests have been made in relation to that incident.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in the Claremont Road area in the early hours of this morning, who may have seen something that could help us in tracking down the perpetrator(s). We know there had to be witnesses to this offence, as people made their way home from Moss Side Carnival.
"The investigation is in its early stages, but we are committed to identifying the person or persons who committed this horrendous act of violence and bring them to justice. We have increased patrols in the immediate area to keep the community safe and we currently have a scene in place around Claremont Road in Moss Side whilst we examine the scene."
