Police have discovered a large number of cannabis plants in an empty building in Bolton town centre.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police's Bolton South Neighbourhood team made the find at an empty address on Bridge Street on Monday afternoon (January 9).
The plants have since been cut down and destroyed by officers, whilst equipment has also been dismantled and ‘rendered inoperable’.
In a statement, a spokesperson for GMP said: “Officers from the Bolton South Neighbourhood team attended a vacant premises on Bridge Street in Bolton this afternoon where a large number of cannabis plants had been discovered.
“The plants have been cut down and taken away to be destroyed. The equipment set up at the property has been dismantled or rendered inoperable at the scene.
“If you are aware of anything suspicious in your community, please report it to your Neighbourhood team or ring 101.”
The discovery is the latest in a wider police crackdown on cannabis across the borough. Last November, more than 300 cannabis plants were seized from a Bolton town centre building after police responded to reports of a burglary.
