Police have 'detained' a man who was spotted trying to cross a busy motorway in Greater Manchester.
North West Motorway Police tweeted about the incident just before 8am this morning (Sunday). Officers said a pedestrian was spotted trying to cross the M61 between junctions six and five in Bolton.
Police urged drivers to take caution as they raced to the scene. The man was 'detained' and taken safely off the motorway.

North West Motorway Police said: "We have reports of a pedestrian on M61 between junctions 6 and 5 trying to cross the carriageway. Police are en route. Please take caution if in the area."
A further tweet added: "Reference the pedestrian on M61, police have managed to detain the male and have got him safely off network."
