Police deploy stinger at taxi driving wrong way along dual carriageway

  • North Wales Police used a spike strip to safely halt a taxi driving on the incorrect side of the A55 dual carriageway on Anglesey .
  • A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody while police enquiries continue.
  • Prior to entering the dual carriageway, the vehicle struck a cyclist in Holyhead , causing non-life-threatening injuries, and damaged several parked cars .
  • Dashcam footage captured by RAF serviceman Martin Williams showed officers slowing traffic and deploying a stinger to intercept the oncoming vehicle.
  • The incident occurred days after a fatal wrong-way collision on the A66 in Cleveland resulted in seven deaths, including two police officers.
