Police cordon remains two weeks after 'drugs and chemicals' found

A police cordon remains in place two weeks after officers discovered suspected drugs.

Detectives found suspected Class B and Class A drugs in a unit at Hartley's Village, off Long Lane, on Wednesday, May 24. Around 18 cannabis plants were found at the scene.

After carrying out a warrant on other units in the area a day later, on Thursday, May 25, they then discovered a large quaintly of suspected chemicals. Police were unable to confirm to the ECHO which chemicals were found.

Now, two weeks after the initial discovery, officers remain at the scene. Merseyside police told the ECHO detectives and forensic officers remain within a cordon in the area, to carry out their investigation and examinations.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that police remain on scene at Hartley’s Village in Aintree after suspected Class B and Class A drugs were found in the area. On Wednesday 24th May, approximately 18 cannabis plants were found by officers making enquiries in the area.

"On Thursday 25th May, officers executed a warrant at units on Long Lane where a large quantity of suspected chemicals were also found. A police cordon is currently in place on Long Lane and Hartley Avenue while crime scene investigators continue their examinations.
