Police cordon off area after man's body found in street

Police enquiries are ongoing after a man's body was found on a street. South Wales Police have confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man who was found in the street at Caerau Road, Caerau, Maesteg.

It is thought the body was found in the early hours of Saturday, April 30. Police officers said next of kin have been informed. No cause of death has been released.

Enquiries are ongoing, however, and police said at this stage there did not seem to be any suspicious circumstances. A large section of Caerau Road remained cordoned off on Saturday afternoon,

There was a police cordon at The Old Station Hotel stretching around 200 meters up the road on Saturday morning. Three police vehicles remained at the scene as well as several officers. A small crowd had gathered near the cordon, eyewitnesses said the road had been closed since around 4am.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police can confirm the sudden death of a 45-year-old man in Maesteg. He was found in the street at Caerau Road, Caerau, Maesteg.

"Next of kin have been informed. There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances at this stage and enquiries are on-going.

"They're saying it's not suspicious but there are still police there."
